Chile’s 1st Female President

So here is to something closer to my Fulbright project. Chile had the second round of their presidential election today and of the top two candidates one was a woman, Michelle Bachelet. She was in the lead after the first round and I just read a few minutes ago that she is now Chile’s first female president. I’m so happy for her. But man when will the US wake up and do something about women in politics on a national government level. So many countries are making us look really bad on this matter. Even the DR has had a female VP and Bachelet was Secretary of Defense before being elected. We, the USA, are like 60ish in the world when it comes to females in parliament. Ok yes we have had two female Secretaries of State and one of them being black but we still have some work to do.
